1. Who is the controller
Stack On The Future LLC ("we", "us"), operator of Unison, is the data controller for personal data processed in connection with the service.
2. Personal data we collect
- Account data: email, username, display name, password hash, avatar, bio.
- Content: tracks, playlists, posts, comments, messages, reactions, and related metadata you upload.
- Usage & telemetry: plays, likes, reposts, follows, pages visited, device and browser information, IP address, approximate location, timestamps.
- Support communications: messages you send us when requesting help.
- Billing data: handled by our Merchant of Record (see below); we receive limited information such as subscription tier, status, and the last four digits of payment methods where Paddle provides it.
3. Why we use it (purposes & legal bases)
- Provide the service (contract performance): account creation, hosting and serving your content, social features, search and recommendations.
- Security & fraud prevention (legitimate interests / legal obligation): detecting abuse, protecting accounts.
- Product improvement (legitimate interests): analytics, debugging, performance.
- Customer support (contract / legitimate interests).
- Marketing communications (consent, where required): only if you opt in.
- Legal compliance (legal obligation): tax, accounting, responding to lawful requests.
4. Who we share data with
- Service providers / subprocessors that help us run Unison (hosting, storage, analytics, email, customer support tooling).
- Paddle.com — our Merchant of Record for the sale of paid plans. Paddle handles payments, subscription management, tax compliance, and invoicing, and acts as its own controller for those activities.
- Professional advisers (legal, accounting) under confidentiality.
- Authorities where required by law or to protect rights, safety, or property.
5. International transfers
Some of our providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions.
6. Retention
We keep personal data for as long as your account is active and for as long as needed to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, port, or object to processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent. Users in the UK/EEA also have the right to lodge a complaint with their supervisory authority. We respond to verified requests within the period required by law (typically one month).
8. Security
We use appropriate technical and organizational measures including encryption in transit, access controls, and row-level security to protect your personal data. No system is perfectly secure; please use a strong, unique password.
9. Cookies & similar technologies
We use cookies and local storage that are strictly necessary to run the service (session, authentication, preferences) and limited analytics cookies to understand usage. You can manage cookies through your browser settings.
10. Children
Unison is not directed to children under the age required by your local law to consent to data processing. Do not use the service if you are below that age.
11. Changes
We may update this notice. Material changes will be communicated through the service.
